The Holidays are coming up and it’s the most giving time of the year. As many of you have seen, we are hosting a campaign called Project H.O.P.E. It stands for “Helping out People Everywhere.” We firmly believe that no matter where we are in the world, we can help someone in need anywhere and everywhere. Here in the Houston area, we have partnered with the Alliance Texas to help keep our refugees warm this winter season.
Our connection with the Alliance dates back to 2015. The same year Mom passed. During the time mom was sick, I went through a lot as I saw the veil between heaven and earth so thin. To see that nothing we possess on earth is important, but what we do. So I decided every Christmas we were going to limit the number of gifts we gave our little family, and use our money to give to another. At the same time, my father in law wanted to do something special for some families and we were made aware of the Alliance Texas. And I quickly fell in love with the people. I remember the families we visited were in the same area I was born in. Then there was that one family we visited in the same apartment building my family use to live in. I remember my heart pausing when I realized I was walking down the same paths I had taken my first footsteps in. As I watched them open gifts, I knew the struggles and challenges they would face in a new country, Yet the power they have to move forward. It was a very personal moment.
Life isn’t easy, and sometimes a little gift, a little hug or words of encouragement through a moment of insecurity, loneliness or struggle makes a “World of Difference.” It’s the smallest of things that can create an impact.
Through the weeks I hope you can find an extra coat to share with someone who need it. I find the Alliance to be so special because not only do they take on the responsibility of helping refugees get on their feet, but they also assist people who are recovering from Hurricane Harvey and Human trafficking. They truly are an amazing organization. So if we can all come together and help bring one jacket, imagine the total we can collect.
We would love to create an impact together and we’re reaching out to our community to help us spread the word about this important campaign. Below you’ll find a link where you can read more about the Alliance and their programs.
Remember, being able to bring a bit of warmth into their doors not only shares kindness, but breaks barriers and creates unity for a stronger community.
